What Is Invincible WiFi?

Invincible WiFi is Spectrum's latest WiFi solution, built to keep your Internet running even when things go sideways. It combines three key elements into one system: an Advanced WiFi 7 router, embedded 5G backup Internet and an 8-hour battery to keep your home connected even during power outages. Rather than juggling separate devices or fiddling with manual setup, Invincible WiFi works as a single, automatic integrated solution. Your devices stay connected to the same WiFi network, so there's no disruption to your day-to-day experience.

Invincible WiFi is very easy to install and includes all Advanced WiFi features like Security Shield which protects all connected devices from cyber threats, as well as network and device management.

How Invincible WiFi Works During Outages

When your primary Internet connection goes down for any reason, Invincible WiFi automatically switches to its embedded 5G backup network and your devices stay connected to your same WiFi network. So there’s no need to reconnect your devices or change any settings.

And if the power goes out the included battery kicks in to keep your WiFi running while you wait for power to come back. Whether you're mid-meeting, streaming a movie or managing smart home devices for up to 8 hours, these features work together to keep you online through unexpected interruptions.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is Invincible WiFi, in plain English?
Invincible WiFi provides automatic cellular internet backup when your primary Spectrum internet connection goes down, and temporary battery power to keep WiFi running during short power outages. When backup mode is active, performance and network behavior are different from normal service.
Is Invincible WiFi included, or do I have to opt in?
Invincible WiFi is optional. It is not required for installation and will only be added to your account if you explicitly choose it. You can remove it at any time without calling support, then return the equipment to Spectrum.
How much does Invincible WiFi cost and will it show up on my bill?

Spectrum Internet 2 Gig includes Invincible WiFi at no extra cost, providing full access to our best WiFi solution featuring WiFi 7, backup 5G and a router with up to 8 hours of battery life.

  • If Internet 2 Gig is not available in your area, you can also add Invincible WiFi to these plans:
  • Internet Gig or when bundled – $20/mo
  • Internet Advantage or Premier – only $30/mo
When does Invincible WiFi activate?
It automatically detects and activates when a disruption in the primary Internet service occurs. When service is restored the system reconnects to Spectrum Fiber-Powered Internet.
Is backup internet performance the same as normal Spectrum internet?
No. Invincible WiFi delivers fast and reliable Fiber-Powered Internet. During backup mode, it switches to 5G Internet, therefore speeds, latency and network behavior can be different and may be lower to your normal service depending on location, signal strength, network conditions, and the Spectrum plan you have.
Is backup data truly unlimited?
Yes, it is truly unlimited. Backup data is not capped like a mobile hotspot, but backup traffic may be subject to network management during heavy cellular congestion. Backup is designed for continuity, not for sustained high-bandwidth usage during extended outages.
Will all my apps and devices work the same in backup mode?
Most everyday activities like browsing, email, messaging, and video calls are supported. Some advanced use cases may not work as expected during backup mode, including inbound hosting, certain VPN configurations, port forwarding, and server-style workloads.
What happens during a power outage?
Invincible WiFi includes a built-in battery designed to keep WiFi running for a limited time during a power outage. Battery runtime varies based on usage, connected devices, and conditions. It is not a replacement for a generator or whole-home battery system.
How long does the battery last during backup periods?
Invincible WiFi provides up to 8 hours of battery life. Once power is restored, the battery recharges automatically.
Do I have to use Spectrum’s router?
Invincible WiFi is a Spectrum WiFi router which has embedded the 5G Internet and the 8-hour battery as a backup. Spectrum doesn’t offer an Internet backup solution that can be used with other routers.
How do I know when backup mode is active?
While connected to Spectrum Fiber-Powered Internet, the router’s LED will display a solid blue light. During an outage, Invincible WiFi switches to backup mode and displays a solid white LED light.
Who supports Invincible WiFi if something goes wrong?
Spectrum’s 24/7 100% US-based customer support is there to help you whenever you need.
Who is Invincible WiFi for?
Invincible WiFi makes it easy to stay connected through the unexpected. The intelligent system continuously monitors your Spectrum Fiber-Powered Internet connection and automatically switches over to a backup 5G network so you can stay online through outages.
Can I cancel Invincible WiFi easily?
Yes. You can remove Invincible WiFi through the Spectrum app or your account without calling support, and charges stop immediately. You'll also need to return the equipment to Spectrum.
