Frequently asked questions

After you choose a new device, you’ll be prompted to provide a few details about your trade-in. Based on that information, you’ll receive an estimated trade-in value. Once we receive your device, we’ll assess its condition, confirm its fair market value, and determine the final credit amount. That credit will then be applied to your next bill or spread across your remaining device payment plan installments. Learn more about device credit.

You’ll receive a fair market offer for your device, plus you might get an extra $100 trade-in credit towards your new device. Check out the Trade-In Program FAQs for more information.

We accept most smartphone and tablet models including Apple, Samsung, Google and Motorola with value. We do not accept smartwatches at this time.

For Anytime and Early Upgrade transactions, we will pay off your Device Payment Plan when you purchase a new Spectrum device. With trade-ins, you’ll receive credits applied in equal installments to the payment plan for your new Spectrum device. If you pay in full for your new device, you’ll get a one-time credit on your account. Learn more about device credit.

You can track the status of your Trade-In by accessing Spectrum’s trade-in portal after mailing your device. The link will be emailed after you complete your Spectrum device purchase.

To qualify for our trade-in program, your device must meet the following requirements:

  • It’s paid in full

  • It’s able to turn on

  • It has no liquid damage

  • You’ve saved your data, and the device has been wiped and restored to factory settings.

  • All security features have been turned off.

To learn more about trading in your old device, read our Trade-In Program FAQs or view our Spectrum Mobile Trade-In Program Terms and Conditions.

You can upgrade your device and activate it on an existing line of Spectrum Mobile service if you’ve paid for your current device in full or if you qualify for an anytime or early upgrade. Learn more.

Once we receive your device, we’ll confirm its fair market value based on its condition. If the condition differs from what was originally reported, or if a different model was sent, your offer may be adjusted. If we do not receive your device, no trade-in credit will be applied. If the offer is rejected, the transaction will be canceled, and your device will be returned to you. For Anytime Upgrade transactions where the Device Payment Plan was waived, the waived amount will be charged back. If your device is received after the chargeback has already been applied, we’ll either issue an updated device value, or you can request to have the device returned to you.

You can choose your shipping options through Spectrum’s Trade-in Portal. After completing your Spectrum device purchase, you’ll receive a link to the portal via email. You’ll have the option to select a USPS Label, UPS QR Code, or a USPS Return Kit to return your device.

There are no fees when trading in for credit towards your new device. Early Upgrades have a $45 fee, waived for Spectrum Mobile Protection Plan (SMPP) customers and those upgrading from an Apple device. Anytime Upgrades have a $35 fee. If your device is fully paid off but not working at the time of upgrade, it’s valued at $0.
