Which Spectrum Internet plan do I need?

Depending on how many Internet users there are in your home and how many devices are used at once, you may need more bandwidth. The following speed ranges will usually be enough to support average use for these household categories:

  • Single or Small Household: 100-300 Mbps with 1-7 devices
  • Small to Medium Household: 300-500 Mbps with 8-14 devices
  • Large Household: 500 Mbps-1 Gig with 14+ devices

Shop Spectrum to see Spectrum Internet rates and offers in your region.

Does Spectrum offer WiFi plans?

Yes, WiFi is included with your Spectrum Internet plan. Spectrum Advanced WiFi is included with Internet Gig, and can be added to Advantage and Premier plans for just $10/mo.

How can I check my internet speed?

To compare your current Internet speed to Spectrum’s plans, use the Internet Speed test. With speeds from 100 Mbps up to 2 Gig (in select markets), you can get local Internet Service with the speed you need.

Can I combine an Internet and TV package with Spectrum?

Yes, you can save with Spectrum Internet and TV packages. Visit Spectrum Packages to bundle Internet, TV, Voice and more.

What is good speed for Internet?

A good home Internet speed has a starting download speed of 100 Mbps, ideal for households with several users connected on multiple devices at the same time so that you can surf, stream, game and make video calls. The more speed you have, the faster your connection. Spectrum has Internet plans with speeds from 100 Mbps to 2 Gig (in select markets).

What are good download and upload speeds?

The best download and upload speed for your home depends on how your household uses the Internet, especially during peak times. We recommend a minimum starting download speed of 100 Mbps, and an upload speed of at least 10 Mbps. However, if multiple people in your home regularly perform high-bandwidth activities simultaneously – such as 4K streaming, video calls and large file transfers – you may want an Internet plan with faster download and upload speeds. Spectrum Internet offers plans from up to 100 Mbps to 2 Gig (in select markets). This article about good download and upload speeds can help you determine what plan is right for you and if you should upgrade to Spectrum’s fastest Internet.

What impacts or slows down my upload speeds?

The following factors can cause slow upload speeds:

  • Outdated computer and/or software
  • Walls, radios and appliances can interfere with WiFi signals
  • Multiple devices connected to your home WiFi network simultaneously
  • Distance between your WiFi router and your device
  • Using several apps at the same time

Does Spectrum have 1,000 Mbps Internet?

Yes. Spectrum Internet Gig delivers Internet speeds up to 1 Gig, which is the same as 1,000 Mbps.

What is the real speed of Spectrum Internet?
Spectrum Internet offers plans with speeds from up to 100 Mbps to 2 Gig (in select markets). However, Internet speeds may fluctuate due to Internet traffic, how many devices are connected to your home WiFi network and if those devices are consuming a lot of bandwidth, such as during video calls, HD streaming and downloading files.
Is 5G Home Internet better than Spectrum Internet?

No. 5G Home Internet is cell phone Internet, which is known for slow speeds during peak periods and signal interruptions caused by radio-frequency interference, the weather conditions and/or physical obstructions. Spectrum Internet is a reliable, wired connection with consistently high speeds 24/7.

Is T-Mobile Home Internet good for streaming?

T-Mobile discloses that new cell phone Internet customers who exceed 1.2TB of data usage for the current billing cycle are prioritized last on the T-Mobile network. They also admit cell phone Internet customers’ video streaming may be more frequently impacted, depending on the extent of network congestion.

Why is my T-Mobile Internet bad at night?

Cell phone Internet can fluctuate during peak hours. Spectrum’s analysis of Ookla® Speedtest Intelligence® data revealed cell phone Internet may not consistently maintain broadband speeds over 25 Mbps during peak times.

On the other hand, Spectrum’s analysis of Ookla® data confirmed Spectrum Internet had faster and more reliable speeds than the cell phone Internet provided by both Verizon 5G Home Internet and T-Mobile Home Internet during peak times.
