Frequently Asked Questions

An eSIM (embedded SIM) is a built-in, non-removable SIM card. The eSIM lets the user instantly activate a different mobile plan on the same device. Without relying on a physical SIM card, it is a much faster activation process for most users.

Besides being able to activate new phone lines in a fraction of the time, some eSIM-capable devices allow you to use two eSIMs at the same time (or one physical SIM card and one eSIM). If you travel abroad often, a dual SIM device allows you to use one SIM for calls in your home region, and another for calls outside your local calling area. A dual SIM also allows customers who use the same device for business and personal calls to maintain separate phone numbers on one device.

The eSIM alone does not drain the battery of your mobile device. It will consume the same amount of battery as a SIM card, however, connecting to two networks will use more energy than being connected to one network.

Spectrum currently supports eSIM on the Apple Phone 12 series and newer, the Samsung Galaxy S24 series, as well as Apple iPad (gen 7-10); iPad Air (gen 3-5); iPad Air 11-inch (2024); iPad Air 13-inch (2024); iPad mini (gen 5,6); iPad Pro 11-inch (gen 1,3,4), iPad Pro 11-inch (2024); iPad Pro 12.9-inch (gen 4,5); iPad Pro 13-inch (2024). Spectrum will eventually support additional manufacturers.

All Spectrum Mobile plans support eSIM. Choose a flexible data plan that fits your needs.
