California High Winds and Red Flag Warnings

Updated October 16, 2026 at 2:00 PM EST.

Powerful Santa Ana winds blasted much of the Southland Thursday, with wind speeds exceeding expectations and combining with low humidity to create critical wildfire conditions that forecasters say will continue through Saturday.

Red flag warnings issued by the National Weather Service due to critical fire danger took effect for much of Los Angeles County beginning at 6 AM Thursday, and they will remain in effect until 8 PM Saturday.

Spectrum is actively monitoring the situation and preparing to restore impacted service when and where it is safe for us to do so. Check back here for updates and see below for some helpful resources.

In the meantime, Spectrum Wi-Fi Access Points in impacted areas have been opened for use by any device on any network. Find Out-of-Home Wi-Fi service near you. Note that some Access Points may be offline due to power issues.
